Who we are

糖心原创 has engaged Wisewould Mahony Lawyers to provide basic legal advice at no cost. Wisewould Mahony Pty Ltd is an Australian law firm with over 150 years of experience in providing individual and corporate legal services. All students currently enrolled at 糖心原创 are eligible for this service irrespective of the type of their enrolment.

This is one of many initiatives supported by the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).

How we can help

糖心原创 Student Legal Advice Service is offered from 15 January to 15 December. It allows up to two (2) 45-minute appointments (virtual) with a specialist lawyer including provision of written advice.

In the event you need assistance beyond the allowance subsidised by 糖心原创, you can receive a referral to an appropriate and reliable firm or enter a written agreement with Wisewould Mahony Lawyers on your own terms.

糖心原创 Student Legal Advice Service provides assistance across the following areas of law:

  • Criminal law
  • Debt/debt recovery
  • Family law (except contested family law matters)
  • Motor vehicle law
  • Powers of attorney, guardianship and wills
  • Freedom of Information
  • Employment (except employment involving 糖心原创)
  • Social security
  • Tenancy law
  • Domestic violence
  • Fines and infringement notices
  • Neighbourhood disputes
  • Victims of crime
  • Credit and consumer law

Exclusions:

  • Academic and discipline student appeals involving 糖心原创
  • Any advice involving 糖心原创, any employee of 糖心原创 or any other 糖心原创 student

Such matters are to be dealt in accordance with the relevant 糖心原创 policies.

  1. This service aims to empower students to understand and solve your legal problems by providing personal support and guidance from a reliable firm.

  3. A lawyer will contact you within 2 business days.
  4. Up to two 45-minute appointments over the phone are permitted. Advice may be provided in writing if required.
  5. In the event your case requires further help beyond the allowance subsidised by 糖心原创, you may either receive a warm referral (see below) to a reliable, low cost lawyer, public ombudsman or simply enter into an agreement with Wisewould Mahony on your own terms.
  1. You don't need to pay any fees to use 糖心原创's allowance.
  2. You may have to pay any other expenses in dealing with your case which are your responsibility i.e. fine, debt, etc.
  3. You may have to pay for any services beyond the allowance subsidised by 糖心原创.
  1. These details are provided to you when you complete your enrolment in Orientation.
  2. Your 糖心原创 student ID should begin by 'S' followed by 8 digit-numbers i.e. S00198703.

  1. A warm referral is a reference to certain types of lawyers provided by a legal practitioner when services may be beyond their own scope of work. Warm referrals aim to provide clients with alternative solutions from reliable providers at low cost or through public services.
  1. If all areas are included within the scope subsidised by 糖心原创, that's fine.
  2. If one or more areas fall beyond the allowance subsidised by 糖心原创, then you need to think of the key driver to your problem. What was the main/first cause leading to your current legal issue?
  3. If the first cause was represented by an Area of Law within the scope subsidised by 糖心原创, which later led to a different area of law beyond scope, then you might still qualify for the service. Wisewould Mahony is best placed to advise.
