ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ secures funding to develop micro credentials in phonics and STEM education

ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ has received funding to develop short courses that will upskill teachers in phonics, maths and science.

ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ will share $18.5 million in funding as part of the federal government's new Microcredentials Pilot in Higher Education program.

ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Executive Dean of Education and Arts, Professor Mary Ryan, said the new courses were part of the University's broader focus on STEM education and literacy.

"These micro credentials allow teachers to upskill in specific areas to take back to the classroom where they can share their newfound skills and make an impact," Professor Ryan said.

“Government funding of ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ to deliver these courses reinforces the essential role we play in educating the teachers Australia desperately needs."

ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ recently launched a STEM Centre of Education Excellence at its Strathfield campus and established the Australian Centre for the Advancement of Literacy (ACAL).

“These two pioneering centres will put ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ further on the map as world leaders in educational excellence,” Professor Ryan said.
